Privacy Policy

Hoverview ("we", "us") helps you record browser workflows and turn them into interactive, shareable guided demos. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It covers the Hoverview web app at gethoverview.com and the Hoverview Chrome extension.

Information we collect

• Account information. Your name and email address, and a securely hashed password (or a Google sign-in identifier if you use Google).
• Recording content. When you actively record a workflow, the extension captures screenshots, the content and layout of the page, your click and interaction points, and the title and address of the pages you record. We capture this only while you are recording — Hoverview does not monitor your browsing in the background.
• Usage data. Basic technical data such as log and error information needed to operate and secure the service.

How we use it

• To create, store, edit, and host the interactive demos you record.
• To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
• To generate optional AI-written step descriptions. When you choose to use this feature, the relevant screenshots are processed by a trusted third-party AI provider solely to produce that text. This is opt-in, per demo.
• To operate, maintain, and improve the service.

We do not sell your personal information or recording content, and we do not use it for advertising.

Sharing and visibility

Your demos are private to your account until you choose to publish or share them. A demo you publish becomes accessible to anyone with its link or embed. We share data only with trusted third-party service providers who host and operate Hoverview on our behalf (such as cloud hosting and infrastructure providers), as needed to provide the service, or where required by law.

Storage and security

Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored with reputable cloud infrastructure providers. Passwords are hashed; access tokens are stored as http-only cookies. We take reasonable measures to protect your data, though no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Retention and deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual demos at any time, or delete your account from your account settings — deleting your account removes your demos and their recorded content. You may also contact us to request deletion.

Your choices

• You control what you record — recording only happens when you start it.
• You can edit or delete any demo, and delete your account entirely.
• You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us.

Children

Hoverview is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the effective date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
